Top Safety Tips for Teens and Parents

Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens.

During National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 18-24) and always, Ford Driving Skills for Life would like to remind parents that, even though it may not seem like it, you are the biggest influence in your teen’s life.

Ford Driving Skills for Life would like to encourage parents to use this week as an opportunity to sit down with your teen driver to discuss expectations. Take direct aim at the leading causes of teen driver crashes and fatalities, including distraction, speed, impaired driving, night driving, and seat belt use.

Start the discussion with these Top Safe Driving Tips for Teen Drivers, but don't let the discussion end there. Download Ford DSFL's Parent-Teen Driving Agreement and customize it with your state’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws as well as rules that apply to your own family. This agreement can then be printed, signed and hung in a prominent location in your home.

You and your teen driver can also check out The Academy, our online driver training that includes videos, simulations, tips, and quizzes. A certificate will be provided at the end of the training.
